The result

Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice scored as Arsenal drew 2–2 with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. The point takes Arsenal to seven from their opening three Champions League matches.

The decisive moments

Bukayo Saka was forced off in the 10th minute. His replacement, Eze, put Arsenal ahead on 25 minutes after racing onto Martin Ødegaard’s long pass; the goal was awarded following a VAR review of the initial offside decision.

Alphonso Davies equalised ten minutes later from Harry Kane’s through ball. Kane then converted a 61st-minute penalty after his shot struck Jurriën Timber’s raised arm. Arsenal answered in the 82nd minute when Rice drove low past Manuel Neuer after Viktor Gyökeres helped work the opening.

Eze’s response from the bench and Rice’s late intervention defined Arsenal’s night. David Raya and Neuer also made important saves, with Neuer tipping Timber’s stoppage-time effort over the bar to preserve the draw.

What it means — and what comes next

Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Champions League with two wins and a draw. Their next scheduled match is against Everton at the Emirates in the Premier League on Saturday 24 October at 3pm UK time.

Southwood perspective

A point in Munich is valuable because Arsenal had to absorb disruption, fall behind and still find a response. Southwood’s view: Eze and Rice gave the match its resilience, while the late pressure showed there was ambition beyond simply surviving. The early loss of Saka is the concern that follows the team home; until the club provides an assessment, the extent of the injury should not be assumed.
